This certificate provides an individual with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary for web design and front-end web development. In this series of courses you will learn the fundamentals of HTML and web site creation. You will also gain valuable experience with specific web development and graphic tools: Dreamweaver, a web design and coding application; Fireworks, a web graphic design and image optimization tool; and Flash (Animate CC), a web animation and multimedia application.
As a result of training in web design, you will be exposed to concepts that will separate you from others in the workplace. The certificate not only gives you the big picture, but it also offers the ability to get into technical and creative details. You will accomplish the following:
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded upon the completion of five required courses. Those who do not wish to pursue a certificate may take individual classes. All courses provide Continuing Education Units (CEUs), and a certificate can be earned in one semester.
Students should be familiar with basic concepts of how to use a computer (either PC or Mac), including: Internet use; loading and saving text files and ability to use basic word processing programs; managing the computer’s directory system; using a 2-button mouse; accessing an external/USB drive; and basic operating system functionality (cut-copy-paste, keyboard shortcuts, etc). Programming experience is helpful, but not required.

The approximate cost of the courses is $1,300 (for the minimum 4 required + 1 elective courses) to $1,600 (for all 6 courses), including supplemental materials. View course schedule, class overviews and cost information on the CSUDH Extended Education website.
This program is eligible for financial assistance under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).
CERTIFICATE APPLICATION:
Web Design
All classes are offered in EE-1202 in the Extended Education Classroom Building on the CSUDH campus at 1000 East Victoria Street in Carson. Classrooms are equipped with the latest computer hardware and Adobe software.
